A DC native and passionate entrepreneur, Mia “Mimi” Evans is the founder of Mixin’ Mimi Mixology, Life Gives You Lemons, and Bad Moms Entertainment. With over a decade in IT and a background in Computer Science and Business Management from Virginia State University and University of Maryland University College, Mimi brings a unique blend of technical expertise and creative flair to the mixology industry.
Mimi’s journey in mixology began in 2010 when she became a certified mixologist at the Professional Bartending School in Arlington, Virginia—a pivotal experience that introduced her to the craft and connected her to a network she values to this day. Later, through her work with Spirit Cruises in DC, she saw how thoughtful client care and personal touches could elevate a guest’s experience beyond simply serving great drinks. Inspired, Mimi set out to create a brand that prioritized memorable service and valued each client deeply. In 2012, after the loss of her father to a brief battle with cancer, Mimi fully committed to building her business, establishing Mixin’ Mimi Mixology to bring her vision of exceptional client care and hospitality to life.

For four years, Mimi balanced her IT career with her growing venture, but in 2016, the passing of her beloved grandmother, also to cancer, became a turning point. Realizing that life is short and should be spent doing what one loves, she left IT to focus on Mixin’ Mimi full-time. This shift marked a profound commitment to her passion. From 2016 to 2017, she taught over 300 students as a Bartending Instructor at the Maryland Bartending School, a role that deepened her dedication to quality and creativity in mixology. This teaching experience shaped her highly customized mixology classes, which include personalized recipe cards and curated drink menus, ensuring each client leaves with a lasting impression.
In 2020, Mimi launched “Life Gives You Lemons,” a brand that promotes empowerment through shimmery lemonades that make a visual impact. Each flavor is thoughtfully named to evoke positive emotions and reflect key ingredients, adding a spiritual layer to the experience.
