I asked...I said YES!

I asked...I said YES!

Heart split in two, husband-to-be and wife-to-be each bearing a half. One half stating "I asked" the other stating "I said 'yes' ".

On Sunday, January 14th, local engaged couples flooded the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in search of the perfect vendors to complement their big day! The Washington Wedding Experience is home to ultimate wedding expo experience, featuring over 100 vendors and hundreds of attendees. Couples are almost guaranteed to find top local wedding industry professionals.

While we did not exhibit this time around, I was still eager to attend the expo, as I recently said "yes" to an unforgettable proposal. No, I will not be jumping the broom! Rather, I accepted a proposal to be a bridesmaid in June 2018 (stay tuned). The activities that the Wedding Experience offered this time around were endless! From runway shows to wedding ring selfie stations, there was so much to indulge in. Not to mention, we meet some amazing vendors.

One of the most unique vendors I had the pleasure of experiencing was Chalkedelic. Owner, Erin Zavala, allowed me to explore her booth while introducing me to her concept of custom chalkboard signage. Artwork displayed on each sign is designed by hand, based on the concept of the client's wedding. Erin and her team offer a vibrant, new twist on all things signage!

Another vendor offering unique services was Arts Group Studios. Every bride wants a photographer that will capture their special day. The Arts Group Studios team does just that! They even offer fun, edited portraits (see middle photo). Experiencing their booth was like walking through an art gallery! Arts Group Studios is almost a one stop shop, as they also provide transportation rentals, videography and beauty services.

In the words of Rihanna, we want that "Cake, cake, cake, cake, cake...". Desserts, pastries and of course, cake, are a huge part of any reception. After all, what is a wedding without a gorgeous wedding cake? There were two cake vendors that had amazing displays, Dana's Cake Shoppe and Angyono Custom Cakes.

Angyono Custom Cakes featured the most unique style of cakes I've ever seen. Their cakes would make wedding reception with vibrant colors, glitter and multiple tiers.

Dana's Cake Shoppe featured the more traditional style cakes. My taste buds danced as I bit into their vanilla cake sample. It was so moist that it practically melted in my mouth. It's easy to see why they are The Knot's 2018 "Best of Weddings" pick!

After spending the day meeting vendors and sampling products, I realized that the process of planning a wedding is difficult. I highly recommend utilizing a wedding planner to help ease the stress of preparing for your big day. A few of my favorite planners, pictured below, were Beloved Weddings & Events (@Belovedisminellc), Elegantly Charming Events (@ElegantlyCharmingEvents) and Inspire Events!

If you do not plan on hiring a planner, I found another helpful resource for wedding planning; "Brides & Weddings of Northern Virginia". This company offers a magazine, released semi-annually, which provides tips on wedding planning, venues and much more.

Thank you to the Washington Wedding Experience for putting on yet another amazing show! I am really looking forward to the upcoming wedding season, as well as being a bridesmaid in June!
